Want to work from home, but don't know to what to do?

by Simon Lewis

There are at least as many work from home companies out there as there are jobs that you could do from home. It may even be possible for you to work from home for your existing employer, so do investigate that option.

The world is full of work from home opportunities, some legitimate some not so. It is true to say that jobs don't usually come with a fee (although business usually do) so always think twice before you send off your hard earned to a company or individual who says that they are able to offer you work at home. This is not to say that you should pass all and every opportunity up - if you are interested in a particular opportunity, contact the person or organisation offering it and ask them as many questions as you feel you need. If they are legitimate they'll have no problem with giving you as much information as you need.

I'd like to discuss three of the more well known work from home companies in the UK. All involve catalogues, but all have different business models. They are Kleeneze, Avon and Betterware. Avon and Kleeneze charge you for your books but Betterware don't. Both Betterware and Avon operate a territory system - they tell you where to put your books out, but with Kleeneze you can put your books anywhere - you build your own territory.

It is true that Kleeneze charges an upfront fee to join - this is business opportunity rather than a job. Now as I have discussed above, a legitimate company which Kleeneze (like Avon and Betterware) is, will be glad to answer any queries that you have. In the case of Kleeneze especially, it is likely that you'll join with a sponsor. You may have found a mysterious card on your card, or seen a flyer or even poster - not to mention newspaper ads. In order to get people talking about the potential that Kleeneze offers, upfront mention of the name is avoided, as this does put people off. However, if you were to look at the Kleeneze opportunity in any depth you would realise that there is a direct relationship between work done and reward received.

To round up, I would suggest that there are two most important points to remember. Work and Research. No work means that you won't get paid - there is yet to be invented a system which will allow you to earn for sitting down watching the television. And in terms of research, you cannot have too much information. Forewarned really is forearmed. In order to weed out the less scrupulous, you have to check them out - unfortunately you won't know it just by looking, but if something feels a little bit risky, then it probably is. That's the end of the article. I hope you have enjoyed it, and best of luck!
